253 Fifth Avenue North In turbulent days of the 17th and 18th centuries, Celtic harper Turlough O'Carolan composed some of Ireland's most brilliant and familiar music. In O'Carolan's Farewell to Music, a one-man theatrical piece, Patrick Ball whisks the audience away to that tumultuous time, as seen through the character of Charles MacCabe, a fellow harper and friend of Carolan. Patrick Ball weaves fourteen Carolan tunes, skillfully played on the rare wire-strung harp, into the fabric of the story. With wit, humor, and haunting melodies, Ball portrays the life and works of Ireland's most beloved composer. Opening act: Tampa Bay's own Celtic Karma. Sunday, November 21, 2010, 7:30 p.m.The Palladium
253 Fifth Avenue North Scotland's world-renowned Battlefield Band infuses traditional and original Celtic music with history, energy, and power. Opening act: Irish singer/songwriter Brendan Nolan. Don't miss founding member Alan Reid's final farewell performance as the Batties bring Scotland to the Palladium.
